Downloading weTransfer files using wget

(valid @ 2017-04-08)

weTransfer emails contain a link that can be used to start a file download to a local machine. However, there are times when you need the images or unzipped files on a webserver. Instead of downloading the zip file to your local machine and then upload it to your webserver, it’s easier and quicker to simply make a wget call to the zip file weTransfer URL.

1) Click on the weTransfer link to start the download.
2) Open your browsers download manager and find the file which is currently downloading.
3) Copy the link (right click normally works across OS)
4) On your webserver use the following format to start a wget download

wget –user-agent Mozilla/4.0 ‘[your weTransfer address here]’ -O dest_file_name
